I’ve been working at The Bakery Atlanta, a creative art space, since it was founded in 2017. When the pandemic struck, we didn’t think the business would make it out of 2020 to be honest. We had no income and COVID didn’t seem to have an end in sight. Our team was questioning how we wanted to spend our time and what each of our futures might look like. Then, thanks to partnerships and generosity, we were able to secure and open two new spaces at the start of 2021. 

One of these was The Bakery South Downtown, a retail storefront on Peachtree St SW. At this space, we host a range of programming including solo and group exhibitions, art classes, workshops, and small-scale community events. We continue to activate this space today!

As The Bakery’s Assistant Director, I help with all aspects of managing this community space, including creating our annual impact reports. Check out what The Bakery has done with our South Downtown gallery space 2021 and 2022:
